USource Forums provide you with a unique opportunity to network with other community bankers having human resource responsibilities. Join us as we discuss the following topics:
Timberlake Lodge-144 Southeast 17th Street
Grand Rapids, MN
The USource Fall Forum will focus on compensation in the banking industry, including current trends and challenges, all which can impact the development of a winning talent strategy. Recent survey findings will be discussed along with effective leading practices. Key objectives of sound compensation planning will be examined:
We’ll look at fixed compensation (base pay) and variable compensation (bonus, incentives, commission), along with total compensation including the value of employer-provided benefits, and why all this is important. Participants are encouraged to share their own experiences about what does and doesn’t work for their bank.
- Focusing employee efforts
- Attracting quality employees
- Retaining top performers
- Motivating your workforce.
- Efficient use of limited compensation budgets
The importance of utilizing current market pay data to reduce the likelihood of overpaying (or underpaying) employees, will be discussed. A demonstration of the PayScale compensation reporting tool now offered through USource will be will be conducted, providing forum participants the opportunity to develop a customized compensation report for one of their own bank’s hard-to-fill positions.
In addition to compensation, there will be a segment on how HR can add value to the organization. If you’ve ever wanted to shed the HR “administrator-only” perception and be viewed more strategically, this discussion should be of interest. Also, dedicated time for roundtable discussion will be scheduled, focusing on whatever topics the participants would like to discuss. Please consider those areas of interest you desire to share and engage with your peers.
Bob Greening, VP of USource, will be the forum moderator. With over 30 years of human resource experience including 16 years in the banking industry (primarily in community banking), Bob has a broad range of experience and knowledge helping to shape his view of HR’s role in organizations. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Michigan State University, with human resources focus.
