When Paul Jacobson joined UBB in 2005, he promised to make UBB's bankcard program a premier performer for our customers. He's accomplishing that goal thanks to years of card program experience working with community banks. Today he manages the Visa® business cards, travel and gift cards, and merchant programs for UBB Bank Cards.
Prior to coming on board at UBB, he worked for eight years as the Director of Card Services for the Independent Community Bankers of North Dakota. Paul's bank experiences include positions with First National Bank & Trust Co., in Williston, N.D., and Community National Bank in Grand Forks, N.D.
Paul earned his bachelor's degree from the University of North Dakota. He also attended Managing the Consumer Credit Cycle at MasterCard® University.
Marcia's expertise in the setup and service of merchant accounts comes from performing the same duties at a community bank prior to joining UBB's credit card merchant program in 2009. Her 25-plus years in community banking also include experience and training in new accounts, IRAs and consumer lending.
Mary Deziel supervises the full range of on-demand HR services provided to community banks through membership in USource Human Resources Management. These include the HR Hotline, our customized employee manuals, the annual salary survey, the HR management seminar series, and several other popular products and services. In addition to the nuts and bolts of program management, Mary has a proven track record for energetically and creatively building a broad range of critical support and training programs.
Mary has worked for a variety of Twin Cities-based companies during her 20 years as a human resource professional. She is accredited as an SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources), a designation that requires ongoing professional education and recertification every three years. Mary earned her Master in Business Administration degree with a concentration in human resources management from the University of St. Thomas, Minneapolis.
Karen performs a full-range of Human Resource services
provided to Community Banks through USource membership under the
direction of Mary Deziel. Karen is well versed in all components of
Human Resources Management with an emphasis in Training and
Development and the interpretation and application of
Anti-Discrimination legislation.
During her over 20 years of employment as a human resource
professional, Karen has been employed in a cross-section of
industries in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. She is certified as a
SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) through the Human
Resources Certification Institute. Karen has a degree in Business
Administration from Minnesota State University, Mankato with a
concentration in Human Resources Management and Marketing.
The executive team at United Bankers' Bank turned to Tim Henry when they decided to add insurance services to the bank's correspondent portfolio. By leveraging customer relationships and negotiating discounted prices with major insurance wholesalers and carriers, Tim and United Bankers' Agency are making available insurance products that might otherwise be difficult for an individual bank agency to access.
In addition to a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from Winona State University, Tim has 13 years experience working with financial institutions. He spent seven years as the Regional Vice President at Allied Solutions where he worked with insurance related products and services. He also was the Business Development Manager for BestSource Credit Union for four years.
In his current position as Vice President of BankValue Advisory Services, Dwight oversees a division of United Bankers' Bank that provides stock valuations, market analysis, merger and acquisition assistance, branch analysis, risk management, and other consulting services to community bankers and their customers in a 14-state area. In addition to working on client-specific projects, Dwight's responsibilities include conducting presentations for individual clients and groups of bankers on issues covering the above areas as well as various other financial management and bank regulatory topics.
Prior to his current position, Dwight was a National Bank Examiner with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), and worked from offices in Chicago, Minneapolis, San Francisco, and Kansas City. During his career with the OCC, he examined institutions ranging in size from small community banks to large multinational banks. Much of his examination work was focused on lending areas, asset/liability management, broker/dealer activities, and analyzing risk management systems.
In addition to speaking at numerous banker and examiner seminars on a range of topics, Dwight is a faculty member, section leader, and a member of the Academic Committee of the Graduate School of Banking in Madison, Wis. Dwight is also on the faculty of Networks Financial Institute (NFI), an organization that provides financial services training to state legislators attending meetings sponsored by the National Conference of State Legislators (NCSL).
Dwight holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis and is certified in business valuation as an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) by the American Society of Appraisers.
Matthew Becker is Assistant Vice President of BankValue. Matt oversees data collection, management and analysis activities for bank stock valuations and market studies. He is heavily involved in the bank stock valuation process, and responsible for collecting and reporting the statistical and demographic data included in our market studies.
Matt, a native of Bismarck, N.D., has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Montana, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas, Minneapolis. Matt is also a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the CFA Institute, and an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) and member of the American Society of Appraisers.
Eric Fink joined BankValue as a financial analyst in June 2007, and is involved with data research and analysis for all activities. He joined BankValue after graduating from Winona State University in May 2007 with magna cum laude honors, receiving a Bachelor of Science in finance with a minor in economics.
Megan Smith joined BankValue as a financial analyst in February 2011. She joined BankValue after graduating from the University of Wisconsin, River Falls in December 2010. Megan graduated in three and a half years with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration with a finance option.
David Emmons is the father of UTrust, UBB's fee-based portfolio management program. Since joining UBB in 1997, he has been helping community bankers navigate the choppy waters of the bond market with planning and guidance on a "non-discretionary management basis."
David first started tracking market trends as a freshman in high school when he began charting the prices of stocks purchased by his dad. He's been tracking them professionally ever since for nearly 40 years, starting first as a trader, and then about 20 years ago, as an advisor. Along the way he has developed multiple statistical tools and processes to analyze the market position of his customer portfolios.
Dave holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn.
