Symptoms caused by Chipset issue:
- Sensor appears to be installed correctly according to Device Manager,
but won't work
- Sensor's little square in the middle is glowing red
- User can start registration wizard but it quits at the "touch sensor"
part, it doesn't light up
- Online client says "Touch Sensor" but it doesn't light
up
Problem:
Non-USB Compliant expansion card or USB chipset on motherboard.
Only happened to a few DELL PC's (Optiplex models mostly)
or laptops.
Steps to fix CHIPSET issue:
-
- These
steps should only be used if instructed and assisted
by UBB tech support
- Confirm that steps from GENERAL
TROUBLESHOOTING, have been completed. Sensor should be connected.
- Run HCEnum.exe (c:\ubbsupport\), it will create a text file ,
email to info@ubb.com
- In the text file, look for DEV=2442 or DEV=2444 and if REV=02
or REV=01.
- If present, then they need to be fixed. REV=04
is not affected
- If not present, send Diagnostics information to UBB
- Click START, RUN, type CMD, Click OK
- At prompt, type NET
STOP DPHOST,
make sure the service stops, close window
- DISCONNECT SENSOR, note which port it was removed from (for step 9)
- Double click the install.reg (c:\ubbsupport\), confirm that you
want to enter it into the registry
- Plug in device into SAME USB port
- Run dpUpload.exe
- This will take about 20 seconds. Do not remove or touch sensor.
- If the device cannot be upgraded due to a version or serial EEPROM
size constraint then it will show a dialog box. TAKE
NOTE if it does.
- If the program executes successfully, it will either say DONE or the
window will go away.
- Unplug the sensor
- Reboot
- After logging in, connect the sensor to same USB port
- Go to www.ubb.com or https://register.ubb.com to
continue as needed
At this point, if it still doesn't work, send diagnostic info to UBB
tech support
