About UBB
Welcome to UBB.com > About UBB
Founded By Bankers, For Bankers
The community bankers that founded United Bankers' Bank in 1975, (the nation's first bankers' bank), envisioned an organization owned and controlled by community banks. They saw a bank dedicated only to correspondent services: helping community bankers buy and sell banks, streamline operations, and improve management services. Our founders also understood that changing market conditions create situations where community bankers need a "trusted advisor" for specialized areas of expertise or broader financial resources.

We have proudly fulfilled this original vision for over a quarter of a century.

Ownership Structure Built On Strength
UBB is owned by United Bankers' Bancorporation, Inc.  Over 250 shareholder banks with combined assets of more than $7.8 billion have invested in UBB.  When you turn to us for correspondent services, you are tapping into a tremendous pool of community bank strength and experience.

It's no wonder that UBB has grown into one of the largest correspondent banks in the Federal Reserve's 9th District.  Today, our market stretches across seven states (Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Montana, Wyoming and Iowa) and encompasses more than 1,200 community banks.

We Understand the Pressures Facing Community Banks
Some see current market pressures limiting the role of community banking today. Mergers, changing technologies, an ever-evolving marketplace, regulatory pressures and non-traditional competition-- all can challenge the financial and human resources of the community bank...and sometimes play to the size and strengths of the mega- banks.

Level The Playing Field With UBB
We see major opportunity for community banks. We combine all that makes you the banker of choice in your community-- superior customer service, local decision making and flexibility-- with our full line of customer-driven, correspondent services.

The UBB advantage can help you control costs, diversify your loan portfolio, achieve a reasonable margin, and create a stream of non-interest income. All this, while your customers enjoy the advantages of big-city banking without the bureaucracy that goes with it.

We Believe in the Strength of A Handshake
Our staff is built around the needs of our customers and shareholders. Before coming to us, many UBB employees worked in a community bank environment or at other correspondent banks. So we understand the "heartbeat" of community banking, the strength of a handshake. And you can count on us to know the importance of prompt turnaround in meeting customer deadlines. Trust us to deliver service that will make your job easier.

We're One Of You
Embodied in this simple statement is the greatest competitive advantage we offer you. We were founded by community bankers and operate today under your direction. UBB's Board of Directors is composed solely of community bankers. Our only job is to help you succeed.  Period.
